What is this course all about?

Knowing how to read your Bible and understand what the authors of Scripture mean is a crucial skill that will serve you for a lifetime of knowing God, loving him and living powerfully for his glory. This class is an introduction to the skills of interpretation necessary for reading and understanding Scripture focusing on the narrative literature of Scripture.

After taking this course you will be able to . . .

  • identify the goals of Bible study.

  • understand the tools and skills necessary for interpreting biblical narratives.

  • utilize those tools and skills through “hands-on” experience and practice studying a biblical narrative.

  • study Scripture on your own more confidently.

  • love God more deeply through your understanding of the tools for biblical interpretation.

Christ and Salvation

What is this course all about?

In this course we will study Scripture’s portrayal of the person of Christ focusing on the union of his human and divine nature, and the work of Christ to bring salvation through his perfect righteousness and his substitutionary, sacrificial death. We’ll also explore historic and modern errors regarding Christ and his work.

After taking this course you will be able to . . .

  • Understand and outline the major affirmations of a biblical doctrine of Christ and salvation.

  • Identify the primary Scripture passages that shape these doctrines.

  • Recognize faulty views of these doctrines more confidently.

  • Apply the doctrines of Christ and salvation to your real lie.

  • Love God more deeply because of your understanding of his word.
