$75.00

Mondays, September 29th–December 15th, 7:30-9pm

What is this course all about?

The Doctrine of Scripture:

You believe “in” the Bible, but you may not be certain what you believe “about” the Bible. Why do you believe it’s God’s word? Is it true? All of it? How does the Bible relate to science and history? Does a person need the Bible to know God or can God be known in other ways? And what difference does reading the Bible make in your real life? In this class we will explore what God’s word says about God’s word.

After taking this course you will be able to . . .

  • Understand and outline the major affirmations of a biblical doctrine of Scripture.

  • Identify the primary Scripture passages that shape the doctrine.

  • Recognize faulty views of Scripture more confidently.

  • Apply the doctrine of Scripture to how you read the Bible

  • Love God more deeply because of your understanding of his word.

The Doctrine of God:

A.W. Tozer said, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us” (Tozer, Knowledge of the Holy). Thankfully, In the Bible, God gives us his own description of who he is and what he’s like. He tells us about his greatness, glory, love, power, wisdom and mercy so that what comes into our minds is a true picture of God. This class is an introduction to the nature of God as he describes it in Scripture.

After taking this course you will be able to . . .

  • See the greatness and glory of the infinite God as he describes himself.

  • Adjust your view of God so that it matches the truth of Scripture more closely.

  • Work through questions about the nature of God.

  • Relate the theological truths of who God is to the practical issues of your real life.

  • Love God more passionately through the study of his nature.
